AQ

If there is one thing I can say that we did in the Bay Area, it's that we ate WELL.  Not like healthy-well.  Like fucking-delicious-well.  I am fairly certain our tastebuds (and just about every other facet of our senses) would vote AQ as one of the best experiences while in Northern California.

I never thought I would be a "taking pictures in restaurant" kind of person.  It's kind of douchey.  But sometimes you are just so overcome by all of the amazingness around you (and in a low-pretensionness-zone) and you just start snapping away.

First things first:  hello.  What.  Adorable.  Rock candy to sweeten your coffee.  Your delicious, individually-brewed coffee.

Sticky bun with bacon.  Do I need to say any more?  Okay, well, this was about the circumference of a mug and three grown adults split it and we didn't finish it.  That is how intensely delicious and rich this little sinner was.

This is my smoked bloody mary with whiskey.  A whiskey-option during the breakfast hour?  God these people are doing things right.  And, like any good cocktail, it smelled as divine as it tasted.  A whiff of gardeny-goodness to start the party off right.

Avocado eggs benedict atop a big slab of Texas toast (it probably has a better name than that).  This was GENIUS.  The tall, porous hunk of bread is perfect for soaking up all of that eggy-Hollindaisey goop.

I would tell anyone visiting SF to go to AQ.  From what I hear the menu changes seasonally but so does the decor and the waitstaff's uniforms.  I also loved that you could get out of there for like $15 or $50 depending on what you ordered.  I really appreciate a restaurant that makes good food accessible like this place.  I hate hearing great things about a restaurant, looking at the menu and feeling "priced out" of the experience.  Could I drop $40 on a meal?  Sure.  Do I want to?  Not really.  So good job, AQ, for being fucking stellar in every sense AND affordable for all!

This post is dedicated to my close friend Alexis.  I've never in my life seen anyone get so fucking excited over food.  And she's super skinny - what a bitch.
